Significant steps toward deepened collaboration: Memorandum of Understanding between PUR and EHH

Protestant University of Rwanda (PUR), 21.04.2026

In partnership with United Evangelical Mission (UEM), today the Protestant University of Rwanda (PUR) hosted an inspiring and highly engaging public lecture on the theme: “More than money: Fundraising as community engagement.” The session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Michael Vilain from the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Hessen, one of our valued partners in Germany. The interactive lecture invited participants to rethink fundraising beyond financial contributions, highlighting it as a powerful tool for building relationships and strengthening communities. Through rich discussions, attendees explored key themes such as giving, solidarity, and mutual support, drawing insights from both African and European contexts. Participants also reflected on how values, trust, and local realities influence ethical and meaningful resource mobilization practices. The session emphasized that impactful fundraising is deeply rooted in community engagement and shared responsibility.

“Fundraising is more than collecting money, it is about people, purpose, and partnership.”

A key highligh at this Day was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Protestant University of Rwanda (PUR) represented by Vice-Chancellor for Academics

Rev. Dr. Viateur Habarurema and Rev. Deogratias Niyitegeka and Prof. Dr. Michael Vilain from the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Hessen. This is marking a significant step toward deepened collaboration.
